Finding out!!
What day did you find out?: Sunday January 4th, 2009
How did you feel when you found out?: It went from shocked, scared, mad, nervous… but eventually very excited!
Who was with you?: Courtland
Who was the first person you told?: I think it was Kathleen
How did they react?: She was super excited
How did the daddy react?: He was excited and couldn’t figure out all the mixed emotions I was experiencing and kept saying, “Nicole, we’re going to have a baby! You’re supposed to be happy- not crying!”

Telling the grandparents!
How did your parents react?: Well I already posted that story… haha
How did his parents react?: They were really excited, probably surprised though
Are they helping with baby names?: I’m sure everyone will give me their opinion- don’t worry though, I like traditional names spelled the way they should be!
Have they bought anything for the baby yet?: Not that I’m aware of, my parents already have tons of baby stuff though- they are grandparent ready with a crib, high chair, toys, the works! Our baby will make grandbaby #5 for my parents but the first for Courtland’s parents!
How often do they call to check on you?: Enough to not be annoying… haha jk. No, Courtland’s mom was so sweet to make us some dinners (she hated cooking when she was pregnant). My family has no sympathy… jk jk I love you guys!

About the pregnancy!

When is your due date?: September 13th
How far along are you?: Eleven weeks
Pre-pregnancy weight?: Wouldn’t you like to know, come on
Weight now?: maybe a few pounds less thanks to the glorious nausea funness and no appetite but force feeding
Have you had any ultrasounds?: yes- it was weird? I guess that’s not the normal response… but really how else do you describe a probe up you showing this odd shaped thing they call a baby- it looked more like a tadpole to me! Haha No it was cool and exciting
Have you heard the heartbeat?: yes
What was the heartbeat?: uh… am I supposed to know that?

Sex of the baby!
Are you finding out the sex or will you wait until birth?: Finding out for sure, I could maybe do the whole surprise thing with a later baby but definitely not with the first and having nothing to be prepared
What do you want?: Secretly a boy, but only because I want more boys than girls when all is said and done (but if it is a girl- it’s our little secret!)

Do you think you will need a c-section?: Sure hope not- but if I do I’m requesting they do a little lipo/tummy tuck while in there… Is that possible?
Will you cry with you hold your baby for the first time?: Before I got knocked up I probably would have said no- I’m usually not a very emotional person, but now with all these hormones raging throughout me- Probably
Do you think the daddy will cry?: No, he’ll be passed out on the floor- he watched a child birth video in school once and practically fainted then
Do you know what you will say to the baby when you first hold him/her?: Uh… Awkward? I don’t know

Is he ready to be a daddy?: He’ll be amazing but I keep trying to tell him how expensive they can be and he doesn’t believe me
Are you ready to be a mommy?: no, but who really ever is? I have the best example for a mother though so if I can be anything like her- I’ll be just fine

Visiting Kathleen in Texas!

Stacey and I were able to go spend a week in Texas with Kathleen, her husband Eric, and thier baby Avree. We had so much fun going shopping, eating yummy food, seeing movies, hanging out with their family and friends, and just having much needed girl time! Kathleen was an amazing host and it was especially a good time because I got to experience first hand what it's going to be like when I'm a mommy! Wow, you mommies out there deserve some major praise because it is a 24/7 job! Also, it was just fun being in Texas since that's where I'll be all summer! I'll be 4 hours from Kathleen, but we're still going to play all the time!

One day we were able to meet up with Teresa and cute Boston for lunch and shopping. Teresa was roommates with Stacey and Kathleen in Provo and basically my roommate too! haha It had been way too long! Teresa- we definitely have to play this summer too!

Cute baby Avree! I felt so bad because us being there threw off her normal schedule and she didn't get very much sleep!Finally passed out!

Our First Doctor's Appointment!

We finally went to the doctor and found out just how far along I am. He measured "it" and the reader said I'm 9 weeks! That makes my due date about September 13th which works out perfecct for us because it gives us enough time to move back at the end of the summer. We also just found out we'll be moving to San Antonio, Texas for the summer- so HOT!! I'll be livin at the pool for sure!

The scam of how we told my parents....

Well I wanted to shock my parents (as if being pregnant after only being married 8 months wasn't enough) so I cooked up a little scam. I called my brother Blake and got him and his fiance Taryn in on it. The plan was for them to sit us all down for a serious talk after Sunday dinner and say they had an announcement. Then they would tell us that my parents are getting another grandchild and they were going to have to move the wedding up. All went as planned, and after they told us, it went dead silent. My dad just said, "whatever, you guys are lying" and kinda ignored it. But my mom's reaction was the best, she didn't know what to do, say, or how to react. The first thing she says is, "can you pass the jam?" We're all looking around like "what the?" Did she really just say that? It was hilarious. But a few minutes later I announced that Blake and Taryn weren't really pregnant and that I was. Then my parents were really confused and it took some convincing to get them to believe me! Anyway, it was fun and we all had a good laugh!

It's official........ We're having us a kid!

These pictures show my initial reaction to the news...Let's just say this baby definitely wasn't planned, hence the mixed emotion faces... haha

This was the result of the first test, but I had to be possitive, these things are wrong all the time right???
But the second test confirmed it and Courtland had to convince me that these things don't lie.

Then the later picture as it all set in, I was much more excited... and have no clue what Courtland's face was doing.

Well, the cat's out of the bag finally! I'm not one to keep secrets for long! Looks like we have some growing up and preparing to be parentals to do! haha Advice???
