CANCUN!!!!!!

We went with a couple of my friends to Cancun with NO kids for 6days/5nights! It was heaven and just what I needed to recoup from the past year of basically single parenthood. Ali and Brax had planned the trip for Brax's graduation and the rest of us tagged along- so thanks Ali for letting us crash your romantic getaway! ha! The four of us have been friends since about 3rd grade and so our husbands are forced friends! jk- they all get along great too.

DAY 1: Arriving in Cancun
Matt & Rachael Wood, Brock & Cassi Squire, Courtland & Nicole Astill, Brax & Ali Tomney
Courtland and I had driven to Utah so we did a quick turn around to get ready for Cancun. We were up all night packing not only for our trip but also our stuff to take to Oklahoma because when we get back we're off again Tulsa bound! So our super early flight left us with about an hour of sleep!

Brock showed up (even a surprise to his wife!) in his D.I. tourist outfit- Hilarious! Everyone in the airport kept chiming in comments like 'He's ready for vacation'!
We stayed at the Valentin Imperial, an all inclusive resort with 8 restaurants and gorgeous scenery. The first day we just checked out the place, had dinner at the steakhouse, and snuck into the ginormous swimming pool which was closed at nights but we didn't care. Then we went back to mine and Courtland's room to play cards, which we did every night. So fun to be able to just do whatever, whenever and not have to worry about the kids! (Thanks to mine and Courtland's parents to watching them for us!!)

DAY 2: Resort Day
Sipping mango-tangos by the pool- All the free drinks were the best!
Even though you can't tell by the picture- cute Cassi is about 6 months pregnant! She was such a trooper the whole time, not holding her back at all.
Going out wind surfing- definitely made for a good time.

Hanging out by the beach- love my hubby!
Waiting for them to get our table ready at dinner- they weren't use to large groups like us.
So typical US below! Love my girlfriends!
We ate hibachi style the second night- I think this was my favorite dinner! I love Japanese!

Love me some Mexican! haha
After dinner we went and watched some Mexican entertainment while sipping our drinks and then off to play cards- very fun relaxing day!

DAY 3: Sight-Seeing day
We split up this day- Rach and Ali did a package excursion and Cassi, Brock and us rented a car for the day and went exploring! We knew this would be the much cheaper way to see the sights. First we went to Tulum- Crazy these structures are still standing!

Nice picture guys- look like you like each other! ha
It was SUPER hot in Tulum so headed down for a dip in the ocean midway- anyone that knows me, knows I HATE to be hot!
(I stole a bunch of pictures from Rach) Anyway- we forgot to take pictures the rest of the day but we went and swam/explored some cenotes too. We went to the grand cenote, which was way cool and snorkeled around in it for awhile. Then we turtle bay and snorkeled right off the beach- it was SO cool! We saw a bunch of turtles, HUGE ones, and would touch them trying to catch them. It was awesome- probably my favorite thing of the whole trip. Definitely recommend going there if you go to Cancun! After, we went shopping in Playa del Carma and then headed back to the resort. So worth it to rent a car- way cheaper than paying for excursions and you can pace yourself and do way more stuff.

DAY 4: Pool/Beach Day
Us girls posing it up! I'm so thankful we've stayed such good friends for so long! Nothing is better than good friends!

The guys throwing around the football- notice me reading in the shade, it was so relaxing to just read a book! I rediscovered my love for reading on this trip.
Me and the hubby- going on 4 years!
Matt and Rach at the pool
For dinner we went to this French restaurant- was NOT my favorite but alright I guess. However- this was the only place that had decent desserts!

After we went to the Michael Jackson show- a little different Mexican style! ha
Then we went to karaoke night- I couldn't convince anyone else to go up. So I went solo and rapped out Vanilla Ice. It was definitely a good time!
Then we went dancing- love bustin out the moves- haha!

DAY 5: Snorkeling & Beach day
We went out on a boat snorkeling in the morning. I thought the turtle place was cooler until I freakin saw a SHARK! A REAL, decent sized, SHARK! It was crazy! And I was the first one to see it- I had swam away from the group (even though I wasn't supposed to) and saw this big thing swim by me! I poked my head up not sure what I saw and yelled to Courtland, "Hurry you have to come see, I just saw this huge thing with a fin on the top.... oh my heck it's a shark, Hurry!" And I went swimming after it not thinking- 'Hello! You are swimming after a SHARK!' Courtland started yelling at me to swim away and I was like no- it's a SHARK! 'like how freakin sweet is this!' But then I finally came to my senses and swam back to the group. THEN I finally realized how pretty stupid I was swimming after a shark? WOW! One of those surreal moments- pretty awesome though! Our guide said it was a 'nice' shark but really he looked pretty frazzled and was just trying to make everyone feel safe though he looked nervous. Guess I shouldn't have gone swimming after a shark?!
The rest of the day we hung out at the beach and pool playing volleyball and relaxing.
Let me just say, Brock is hilarious! Everywhere he went he would talk to whoever would listen and chat with them. One day Cassi had him go back to the room for something and he didn't come back for like TWO hours because he kept stopping to talk to random people! Who does that? Brock! It kept me laughing the entire trip watching who he'd talk to next. Brock and Matt made friends with one of the workers who took drink orders and even got her interested in The Church (Maria- the one to right of Brock). They exchanged information and plan on getting the missionaries to go teach her and some of her friends- way to always be a missionary guys!
And of course the classic- burying people in the sand, they made Brock a mermaid.
Getting ready to let them bury us in a pit they dug..
Sand in every crevasse!

Covered in sand and ready to go for a long dip in the ocean.
I ordered a chicken something and this is what they brought out! A chicken with no head sitting up all posed! Hard to eat when it looks like that!

DAY 6: Last Day in Cancun
Our flight back home was in the late afternoon so we were able to get in a few more hours of relaxing by the pool.

Cassi (6 months prego) and Brock
Rach holding the monkey these guys kept bringing around. I held it too but I took few pictures this trip so most of my pictures are stolen from Rach! Thanks for being the photographer on the trip Rachael!

We had such a fabulous relaxing trip! Couldn't have asked for a better vacation- good company, good food/drinks, and no worrying about the kiddos! I think I even convinced Courtland this is a necessary event we need to make a tradition EVERY year! ha Thanks friends for such a fun time and parentals for watching our kids!
