Visiting Kathleen in Texas!

Stacey and I were able to go spend a week in Texas with Kathleen, her husband Eric, and thier baby Avree. We had so much fun going shopping, eating yummy food, seeing movies, hanging out with their family and friends, and just having much needed girl time! Kathleen was an amazing host and it was especially a good time because I got to experience first hand what it's going to be like when I'm a mommy! Wow, you mommies out there deserve some major praise because it is a 24/7 job! Also, it was just fun being in Texas since that's where I'll be all summer! I'll be 4 hours from Kathleen, but we're still going to play all the time!

Stacey, me, Kathleen at the ward Valentine's party. Then after we got the famous "Wing Stop" which were pretty dang good wings and fries!

One day we were able to meet up with Teresa and cute Boston for lunch and shopping. Teresa was roommates with Stacey and Kathleen in Provo and basically my roommate too! haha It had been way too long! Teresa- we definitely have to play this summer too!

Cute baby Avree! I felt so bad because us being there threw off her normal schedule and she didn't get very much sleep! Finally passed out!

A sweet car at an open house we were able to go in and see.

Kathleen and Avree- we were having lunch at the CheeseCake Factory!

Our First Doctor's Appointment!

We finally went to the doctor and found out just how far along I am. He measured "it" and the reader said I'm 9 weeks! That makes my due date about September 13th which works out perfecct for us because it gives us enough time to move back at the end of the summer. We also just found out we'll be moving to San Antonio, Texas for the summer- so HOT!! I'll be livin at the pool for sure!

The scam of how we told my parents....

Well I wanted to shock my parents (as if being pregnant after only being married 8 months wasn't enough) so I cooked up a little scam. I called my brother Blake and got him and his fiance Taryn in on it. The plan was for them to sit us all down for a serious talk after Sunday dinner and say they had an announcement. Then they would tell us that my parents are getting another grandchild and they were going to have to move the wedding up. All went as planned, and after they told us, it went dead silent. My dad just said, "whatever, you guys are lying" and kinda ignored it. But my mom's reaction was the best, she didn't know what to do, say, or how to react. The first thing she says is, "can you pass the jam?" We're all looking around like "what the?" Did she really just say that? It was hilarious. But a few minutes later I announced that Blake and Taryn weren't really pregnant and that I was. Then my parents were really confused and it took some convincing to get them to believe me! Anyway, it was fun and we all had a good laugh!
My mom checking my pregnancy test so she could believe me
Blake and Taryn acting sad because they were naughty... not REALLY though

Yeah, we pretty much look like white trash, don't hold it against us!

It's official........ We're having us a kid!

These pictures show my initial reaction to the news...Let's just say this baby definitely wasn't planned, hence the mixed emotion faces... haha

This was the result of the first test, but I had to be possitive, these things are wrong all the time right???
But the second test confirmed it and Courtland had to convince me that these things don't lie.

Then the later picture as it all set in, I was much more excited... and have no clue what Courtland's face was doing.
Well, the cat's out of the bag finally! I'm not one to keep secrets for long! Looks like we have some growing up and preparing to be parentals to do! haha Advice???

More pictures of our baby Lucy.. haha

Lucy gets high class attention- she has her own heating pad in her bed. Can you say spoiled! I never thought I'd be one of THOSE people. But she's just so dang cute.

Courtland ready to bite Lucy's head off. Lucy kind of goes crazy sometimes and has the sharpest teeth and claws. Can you file dog's teeth down??
She's such a cuddly puppy. Just what I wanted- let's hope she stays this cute! Now if only we could get the pottie training thing down... she's improving though, and hopefully we can try out the petsmart thing...
Both my babies sleeping on me- So cute!
So I got some great advice on pottie training and now I'm wondering if anyone knows how to teach better sleeping habits because I don't know how much longer her current habits can last! I try to make her sleep in her bed in her kennel and lock her in so she won't get out. Sometimes she'll stay in there for a little bit- an hour tops- then she starts crying. It wakes me right up, which is weird cause I'm a deep sleeper. I've tried to just ignore it and get through the crying and maybe it'd get better but only last about a half hour before I start going insane and have to get her out. Then she goes running for our bed and starts yelping to come up cause she's too little to get up herself. So I cave and she sleeps with us in our bed (which I probably won't mind later on when she's better trained). Right now she sleeps for a while but around 5 AM she starts licking my face and clawing my hair, making it impossible to sleep and if I try to ignore her... She pees in our bed!!! Gross!!!! So now I'm doing the wash more and getting less sleep, I need some advice! Anyone?

Game Night with some friends..

Our friends Adam and Kris came over last Sunday for game night.

This is the highest tower we built.. not bad... then-
The picture's bad but that would be me knocking down the tower!
We had a fun night playing games. We're big game players and have lots of options to play so if anyone ever wants to come play we'd love to have you! Let me know!

My Great Grandma Clifton turned 100 years old today!!!

My mom's family had a huge birthday bash for my great grandma Clifton on Tuesday to celebrate her 100th birthday today- Wednesday! Wow! 100 years of living- that's crazy! The even crazier part is she still lives on her own and is doing well! (recently her daughters have been taking turns staying with her everyday to be safe and keep her company) She's an amazing woman though I tell ya! I remember playing dress-up in her basement and her always having treats for me when I went to visit. Keep up the good work grandma and congratulations on your 100th birthday! We love you!

My great grandma is so sweet and still sends all of her grandkids birthday cards with money on their birthdays! I don't know how she does it, but we love her!

Weekend Cabin Getaway!

Courtland's friend Adam invited us up to their family's cabin up in Kamas, Utah. We had a lot of fun and it was nice to just get away and out of our little apartment. We played games, told stories, watched movies, went sledding, and so forth. The cabin was huge! And so much fun!

Too early to be taking pictures...

Adam, Courtland, and me- not the best angle

Sitting, talking, gaming by the fire

Our new addition to the family- Lucy!

I have been begging Courtland forever to let me get a puppy and it all finally paid off! For Christmas I got our adorable new addition to our family Lucy, aka "peanut." She's so dang cute! She's 75% mini pinscher and 25% maltise- weird mix I know but she was too cute to say no! The thing I didn't realise about getting a puppy is how much work they are! I swear it's like having a baby (I know it really doesn't compare, but it's my mini preparer for one day when we have kids- haha). If anyone has any pottie training tips please help! I'm really struggling to get her to stop going all over the apartment (thank goodness it's an apartment and not my house!) Courtland likes to call her "Lucifer" because she gets in these crazy moods of biting the heck out of anything she can- especially our toes! But I love her (can't say the same for Courtland) and I'm determined to figure out this whole pottie training thing. Oh and I need to figure out how to get her to sleep in her own bed because she wakes me up like 5 times during the night!

You can't really tell but Taryn painted her "toe nails" red- so cute!

She's what I call a high matenence dog- she has a heating pad in her bed because she gets so cold! Can't blame her though, our apartment doesn't have a heater and it's freezing!

She's such a cuddly little puppy- my parents just love her! She'll only be about 6lbs full grown- hence why I call her peanut.

Lucy and her daddy! haha

This is when she's in her "Lucifer" mode

Christmas Eve Traditions

Every year on Christmas Eve with my family we open pajamas and race to see who has them on first... And of course I won again! Where's my competition! Another tradition is to eat scones with honeybutter and drink hot chocolate, compliments of my amazing mother! I wish I would have taken more pictures over the holidays... I'm not very good at remembering. So we spent the day before Christmas Eve at the Astill's and enjoyed spending time there and then slept at my parent's Christmas Eve. The day after Christmas we went to lunch and a movie with the Astill family and spent the night there spending time with Courtland's brother before he left for duty with the Marines! We had a much needed relaxing and fun break!
Courtland, me, Taryn, and Blake
The only kids home to celebrate! We missed the other half of our family!

The boys playing Courtland's new game- Call of Duty... enough said

My mom's cute Christmas tree- one day I'll have a designer tree like my mom's- jealous!
